    Making Your Own Ringtones

I'm a ringtone guy. I change them fairly regularly, if and when I find some I like. However, I'm not a believer in buying anything when there's no need, and prices tend to be exorbitant for what you get.

Because I'm a cheap rascal, I make my own from a variety of sources. Some people have asked me about how this is done.

  • I Hate Eminent Domain

    I Hate Eminent Domain

I have hated the entire concept of eminent domain ever since the state came to my father and made him sell some of his frontage property in order to put an off-ramp from the newly four-laned federal highway 45 back when I was a child.

  • Supreme Court for the (rare) win

Supreme Court for the (rare) win

A big win for our Republic today, as the Supreme Court narrowly affirmed the right of Americans to keep and bear arms in their decision on District of Columbia V Heller today. This won’t result in a nationwide Castle Doctrine, though it would be nice, but at least the right is affirmed. What [...]

Raising or Lowering Keys of Accompaniment Tracks

I’m a volunteer music director at my church, and, as such, I’ve gone through a number of accompaniment tracks over the years. During that time, I have acquired many tracks that were simply out of my vocal range or were too uncomfortable to deal with. Some time back, though, I found a largely [...]

  • A Fundamentalist Worldview

    A Fundamentalist Worldview

Often times, in discussions online and off, our stated principles, beliefs, and opinions earn us labels. Of course, labeling is a convenient means of categorizing a person and their beliefs in a set group that is easily identifiable, if not very accurate.  More often than not is used as a filter…one that [...]

What’s Your Name, Holy God, What’s Your Name?

All due apologies to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just couldn’t resist that title. Seems like the only blogging I do these days occurs when something I see on television angers me to the point of ranting. And, as usual, the culprit is the Hannity & Colmes show. There was a segment tonight about some Catholic [...]

  • Gen. George S. Patton – A Real American Hero

Gen. George S. Patton – A Real American Hero

In today’s world, there doesn’t seem to really be many shining examples of leadership. I don’t personally believe we’ve had a credible leader since Ronald Reagan graced the nation by sitting in the Oval Office, and in the years since the end of his last term there have been very few who can even [...]

  • On College Football Championships

    On College Football Championships

My opinion on this subject may not be considered worthwhile, as I don’t know the names and stats of every kid on every team in every conference of every division of college football. But anyone who does is a blithering moron for it, so I feel my thoughts are just as valid as most. There’s [...]

  • The Legend of Bull Sullivan

    The Legend of Bull Sullivan

Practically nobody outside East Mississippi knows about or remembers Coach Bull Sullivan. He’s one of those legendary figures you hear about in hushed, reverent tones from the elders of the community. In my area, there are still a number of people around who played for him…such as one of my uncles, my high [...]

  • Who rightfully belongs in Canaan-land?

    Who rightfully belongs in Canaan-land?

I posted this on a message board a month or so ago and was told that it has been promulgated by others on other sites ever since. So I decided, why not post it here as an official text originating from yours truly? Here are my thoughts concerning the rightful possessors of the land of Canaan: The question is over who the rightful owners of the land is pretty funny. Land ownership has historically been dictated by who can take and retain it...rightful possessors is only a recent innovation brought on by racial guilt that didn't exist over a hundred years ago. The only reason Israel doesn't possess all the land from the Nile to the Euphrates and from the southern tip of Sinai to Turkey (the land promised them by God in Genesis and the land they could have easily had by this time) is because they do want peace with their neighbors and do want to do right by them.Nobody clamors for the return of formerly indigenous peoples anywhere. The most poignant of which being the Jewish refugees from Muslim lands who ran to Israel in the opening months of its modern state after living in those lands for hundreds of years, even predating the advent of Islam...surrounding nations who are no more willing to absorb the Palestinian people they told to leave or face extermination. Quotes could be given as to why, and the reason is always to retain the ongoing, simmering hatred of that state.
