Operation Atari HTPC: Part 3
Posted on February 2, 2012 | No CommentsThis will be the final article chronicling the construction of this project. Another article may be posted later on setting up the machine and some of the tweaks I had to make, but the construction was the most unique part of the project. -
Operation Atari HTPC: Part 2
Posted on November 15, 2011 | No CommentsIn the second installment of this HTPC build, the Atari case is prepared for assembly. There's a lot that goes into such a project, and this is where the rubber meets the road! -
Operation Atari HTPC: Part 1
Posted on September 3, 2011 | 2 CommentsI've gradually noticed that I wanted to spend less time in the computer room. So I'll be building a modern machine inside an Atari 5200 box as a home theater PC! -
Making Your Own Ringtones
Posted on October 9, 2009 | No CommentsI'm a ringtone guy. I change them fairly regularly, if and when I find some I like. However, I'm not a believer in buying anything when there's no need, and prices tend to be exorbitant for what you get. Because I'm a cheap rascal, I make my own from a variety of sources. Some people have asked me about how this is done. -
A Few Things I Hate About Football
Posted on October 6, 2009 | 1 CommentI'm a fan of football. Having grown up watching and playing it, I see no time in the future where I won't be watching it. It's an "always have, always will" sort of thing. But there are some things I could totally do without: see how many you agree or disagree with! I’m sure there’s other stuff I haven’t listed here, but those are the major ones. -
I Hate Eminent Domain
Posted on April 29, 2009 | No CommentsI have hated the entire concept of eminent domain ever since the state came to my father and made him sell some of his frontage property in order to put an off-ramp from the newly four-laned federal highway 45 back when I was a child. -
Supreme Court for the (rare) win
Posted on June 26, 2008 | No CommentsA big win for our Republic today, as the Supreme Court narrowly affirmed the right of Americans to keep and bear arms in their decision on District of Columbia V Heller today. This won’t result in a nationwide Castle Doctrine, though it would be nice, but at least the right... -
Raising or Lowering Keys of Accompaniment Tracks
Posted on April 9, 2008 | 4 CommentsI’m a volunteer music director at my church, and, as such, I’ve gone through a number of accompaniment tracks over the years. During that time, I have acquired many tracks that were simply out of my vocal range or were too uncomfortable to deal with. Some time back, though, I... -
A Fundamentalist Worldview
Posted on January 5, 2008 | No CommentsOften times, in discussions online and off, our stated principles, beliefs, and opinions earn us labels. Of course, labeling is a convenient means of categorizing a person and their beliefs in a set group that is easily identifiable, if not very accurate. More often than not is used as a... -
What’s Your Name, Holy God, What’s Your Name?
Posted on August 16, 2007 | 3 CommentsAll due apologies to Lynyrd Skynyrd. Just couldn’t resist that title. Seems like the only blogging I do these days occurs when something I see on television angers me to the point of ranting. And, as usual, the culprit is the Hannity & Colmes show. There was a segment tonight...
