I cannot claim authorship of this...it was written in 1981 by John C. Hutchinson Jr. I heard it in an Adrian Rogers sermon I was listening to on a road trip today, and I felt it was too good not to share it. Not that it's not available elsewhere (I didn't transcribe it...in fact, I got it from here), but it's quite worthy of reprinting.

January 30th marks an unpleasant time of year for me and mine. It was just eight years before we said goodbye to my father, the finest example of a man I have ever known. Eight years is a long time, but it's not hard to go back. So, to celebrate the memory, I found a picture that quickly brought a smile to my face. For those of you who remember him, I hope it will give you one, as well. And for those who had not the privilege, this'll tell you a lot of what you'd need to know.

While the title's not a direct quote, that's the gist of what was said by Representative Lynn Woolsey (D-CA) in a letter to Politico. The essence of this is, "keep your superstitious foolishness to yourselves and leave the governing to us progressives, or we'll steal your money." If you’re wondering where you may have heard of Rep. Woolsey before, she was the one responsible for Cindy Sheehan’s disruption of the 2006 State of the Union address. She had given her sole invitation to Sheehan, despite knowing she was a full-on loon.

Making Your Own Ringtones

I'm a ringtone guy. I change them fairly regularly, if and when I find some I like. However, I'm not a believer in buying anything when there's no need, and prices tend to be exorbitant for what you get.

Because I'm a cheap rascal, I make my own from a variety of sources. Some people have asked me about how this is done.

A Few Things I Hate About Football

I'm a fan of football. Having grown up watching and playing it, I see no time in the future where I won't be watching it. It's an "always have, always will" sort of thing. But there are some things I could totally do without: see how many you agree or disagree with! I’m sure there’s other stuff I haven’t listed here, but those are the major ones.

New Theme for Ye Olde Blog

I like it quite a lot, but there's plenty of work to be done. First, the tab box is way too tall...I need it smaller with less wasted space. I also need to renovate the right side with the featured articles, with the first two or three displaying images and the rest without. The middle column repeats a post if it's in more than one category.

This is just a quick note on Representative Joe Wilson (R-SC), who interrupted Obama’s Wednesday night speech with “you lie!” Which, by the way, was true: Obama lied when he said the current plans didn't cover illegal immigrants. I only have two criticisms for the Representative.

I was greeted at the Christian bookstore where I work this fine Saturday morning with a set of papers stapled together on the table behind the sale counter. It sort of grabbed my attention, as it said in big, bold, all-caps letters, "TELL OTHER CHRISTIANS AND SAVE A SOUL FROM HELL." So immediately I think, "this doesn't look like company material...."

Brian McLaren needs to butt out

Just got an email that's torqued my lugnuts a bit too much concerning Brian McLaren. In case you're unfamiliar, he's one of the most influential "evangelicals" in America...at least, according to Time magazine. I put "evangelical" in quotes, because, by my reading, the man doesn't seem to have the whole Christian thing figured out yet.
